The Queen Joins Facebook

queen-elizabeth2

The official British Monarchy page was launched by The Queen yesterday at 8am on the world’s most popular social networking site, allowing users to connect with the Royal Family online.

Over 40,000 people “liked” the page within the first hour of it’s launch, and on the first day the page attracted more than 100,000 users, as Royalists and republicans flocked to comment on the British Monarchy page.

Sadly the page does not contain a personal profile of Queen Elizabeth’s favourite television programs, drinks, or daily status updates, but allows people to follow and comment on the daily engagements of members of the Royal Family and allows users to find out about up and coming royal visits.

Inpiration beyond reason – Arcade Fire

arcade_fire_downtown

This is an interactive film created by Chris Milk for Arcade Fire’s The Wilderness Downtown. It’s an incredible, emotional film and wow! When technology is used to create an intimate moment between the user and screen, it reminds me of why I got into this creative, digital world. The film reminds me of the amazing early work of Hi-Res (namely Donnie Darko and Requiem for a Dream). Take 10 minutes out and immerse yourself in this experience, you won’t regret it.

Checking in with Facebook Places – A Foursquare Killer?

We were pretty interested to see the official launch of Facebook Places a few days ago. Facebook Places is based on geo location, where you can basically update your status and tag yourself in pictures based on location. It’s all coffee it seems.

We are really interested in the sharing and friendship aspects of this new service. How do friends share experiences in a meaningful way? How does it enhance friendship? Does it equalize your options (I should go there, he’s there, but i really want to go here…).

We’ll be trialling Facebook Places alongside Foursquare in the coming months, stay updated for the latest experiments.

Recorded Future – Temporal Analytics

Wow, this new premium service has been on our lips for the last few weeks. The idea of an engine/aggregator that uses everything indexed on the web to predict the future is certainly controversial. See what it’s all about
